It is a legal requirement as a OFSTED registered childminder that I must follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework.
There are 7 areas of learning and development they are divided into prime areas and specific areas.
The prime areas are:
Personal, social and emotional
Communication and language
Physical development
These are the areas that I will focus on more with the youngest children. These form the basis for successful learning in the other four specific areas.
The specific areas are :
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and designs
As children grow in confidence and ability the balance will shift to a equal focus on all 7 areas.
Childrens learning and development will continue to be implemented through planned , purposeful play which will be tailored for the child to suit their needs and interests. This will be 80% child led and 20% adult led. As the child gets older the activities become more adult led to prepare the child for school.
The EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) asks that all child care providers to work in partnership and to think of new things to share with parents and carers and come up with new ways of asking them what their child can do , what they like to do and what they say to them.As an OFSTED registered childminder I will encourage and support parents in guiding development at home to ensure their child have the best possible start.
2 Year Progress Check This is a short summery of childs development for parents and health vistors to see and must be signed by the health vistor.
